Best Honda S2000 Car Cover Reviews
Best Indoor: S2000 OEM Car Cover
Not that anyone should be surprised, but Honda makes outstanding OEM parts. Their factory car covers receive some of the best customer feedback you will see anywhere.
- S2000 '00-07
- Genuine OEM
- Direct fit
- Genuine Honda Parts 08P34-S2A-101 Car Cover
Honda S2000 OEM car covers are great at what they do. They provide outstanding INDOOR ONLY protection. As we discuss in our Buying Guide, cars parked indoors face three threats:
- Dust (it’s abrasive to paint)
- Scratches (excited pets and falling garage clutter have ruined many a clear coat)
- Condensation (moisture that isn’t allowed to evaporate will lead to mildew).
The ideal car cover to thwart the above threats would have great dust protection, superior breathability and a very soft inner lining.
The Honda 08P34-S2A-101 Car Cover for 2000-2007 year models and the Honda 08P34-S2A-100A Car Cover for 2008-2009 year models are genuine Honda certified OEM accessories and more than meet the above requirements.
These covers are custom fit and contour tightly to the shape of an S2000. A snug fit prevents dust from getting on your car from underneath the cover and possibly damaging the paint.
The inner lining is especially noteworthy. It is poly cotton which is the best inner lining available and will not scratch your car’s paint. Poly cotton followed by nylon fleece are considered to be the most desirable inner linings as they are less abrasive than polypropylene and certain other poly blends. The inner lining also adds thickness which provides additional protection against scratches.
Moisture condensation can be an issue anywhere, but especially so in humid climates. The reason this is a big deal is that moisture trapped between a car and car cover will create an ideal breeding ground for mold and mildew. “Breathable” car covers allow moisture to evaporate quickly preventing any mold or mildew problems. With this car cover, breathability is absolutely superb.
The Honda OEM car cover is a premium product and includes a nice storage bag. It also has side grommets, or as Honda calls them, “security eyelets,” but does not come with a lock. An optional lock and cable system is sold separately.
Overall, this is a great product for what it does. The Honda OEM has been on the market for a long time and receives outstanding feedback. It’s a very safe choice.
Who’s this car cover best suited for?
- Anyone who parks indoors
- Anyone who wants truly premium protection
- Anyone who values genuine Honda accessories.
Best Overall: Covercraft Custom Fit Noah
The Honda OEM covers are for indoor use. Now let’s turn to something for the outdoors, the Covercraft Custom Fit Noah.
Covercraft is arguably the leading company in the market. “Noah” is a patented, high-performance fabric made by Kimberly Clark. It has 4 layers of premium materials:
- Two outer layers of bi-component, spunbond material treated with special UV inhibitors
- A barrier layer of stretch film to provide moisture resistance
- A soft inner layer to prevent paint scratches.
The UV inhibitors play a dual role. They keep your car cooler by reflecting the sun’s rays. They also prevent the outer layer from deteriorating, which extends the useful life.
Breathability is excellent as a middle layer of stretch film has chemically induced microscopic holes that are smaller than water droplets. This helps keep moisture out but allows condensation and other trapped moisture to evaporate.
In addition to the premium materials, the workmanship is top notch. Seams are overlapped and double stitched to prevent leakage.
What does it all mean? You get a cover that provides segment-leading dust protection and moisture resistance (note: no car cover is 100% waterproof despite manufacturer claims, although this is one of the best).
In terms of protection and functionality, we would rate the Noah as follows.
This overall protection profile is excellent.
The Noah is a true custom fit car cover and is made-to-measure, including sewn-in side mirror pockets. Both the front and back have elastic hems to further ensure a tight fit.
Like with all premium outdoor covers, side grommets are included to allow the cover to be strapped down in windy conditions. Worried about installation? It’s pretty straightforward as this manufacturer video demonstrates.
Although reportedly machine washable in commercial washers without agitators, we strongly DO NOT recommend this. Any car covers with UV inhibitors are at risk of having them diminished by any aggressive washing.
Instead, we recommend:
- Mix an ounce of gentle cleaner (Simple Green All Purpose) with one quart of water
- Gently spray or wipe on the cover with a cloth
- Rinse with water until no suds are visible
- Allow to air dry on a line or on top of the car.
We recommend washing twice a year if used regularly, or as needed if the Noah gets especially dirty.
With a 4-year warranty, 30 day money back guarantee and outstanding reputation, the Covercraft Noah is simply one of the best.
Who’s this car cover best suited for?
- Anyone who parks outdoors
- Anyone who needs serious protection
- Anyone in particularly rainy, sunny or dusty climes.
Outstanding UV Protection: Coverking Custom Fit Silverguard
We mentioned Covercraft was a leader in the car cover industry. The other market leader is Coverking. Their Silverguard car cover is an excellent light duty cover that is made in the U.S.A.
It is made out of 300 Denier polyester with double-needle, overlapping seams and wax coated threads. While only constructed out of 2 layers, the 300 Denier is twice as thick as average car fabrics.
Coverking is also known for having the fewest seams in its construction process. Fewer seams means less breakage.
This is one of the most effective car covers on the market for UV protection, and is solid in all other phases. Protecting from door dings is its only real weakness due to only using 2 layers of fabric.
In terms of overall protection and functionality, we would rate the Silverguard as follows.
As a true custom fit cover, it is designed with tailored S2000 mirror and antenna pockets. The Silverguard has neoprene elastic tensioners in the front and back to keep the cover firmly in place.
This cover should also only be washed by hand. Again, use a gentle soap with no additives (like fabric softener) and scrub lightly with a soft brush or cloth. Manufacturer instructions can be found here.
It comes with a storage bag, but a lock and cable system must be purchased separately.
With a 3-year warranty, 30 day money back guarantee, and a great price point, the Coverking Custom Fit Silverguard will be a perfect choice for many S2000 owners.
Who’s this car cover best suited for?
- Anyone who parks outdoors in sunny but otherwise moderate climates
- Anyone who requires a tighter fitting cover (e.g., lives in especially windy areas)
- Anyone who wants a lighter cover that is easy to install and store
- Anyone with a moderate budget.
Top Semi Fit Model: CarCovers Semi-Fit S2000
We have talked about universal and custom fit car covers. There is a category in between, referred to as “semi-fit.” These are sized to the length, width and height of a particular make and model, in this case the S2000. They are not tailored for spoilers, hood scoops, etc., like a full custom fit car cover.
Usually they don’t have mirror pockets either. The manufacturer claims that this is for structural integrity as the seams on mirror pockets are the most likely part of the cover to tear or rip. It also helps keep costs, and ultimately the price to the customer, down.
With the CarCovers S2000, you will be fully equipped right out of the box. Your package will include a(n):
- Car cover
- Cable and lock system
- Storage bag
- Antenna patch kit.
It is made out of a very robust 5 layers of fabric. Construction is consistent with other premium car covers, including:
- Chemically infused UV inhibitors
- Double stitched and welded seams
- Reinforced grommets to prevent lock and cable system from damaging fabric
- Elastic front and rear hem.
The CarCovers Semi Fit is an excellent option for the money. The company gets good reviews across all makes and models.
Who’s this car cover best suited for?
- Anyone who wants an easy to install cover (don’t have to align mirror pockets)
- Anyone in a challenging climate that needs a thicker fabric with more layers
- Anyone who needs a “max protect” type product at a budget price.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do the OEM covers fit the CR model (i.e., with a spoiler)?
No. They are made for the base models and do not fit large spoilers.
What accessories are included with the OEM covers?
Just storage bags. Lock and cable systems must be purchased separately. Other accessories to consider are microfiber cloths and soft brushes to clean the outside of the car cover.
Can the OEM covers be installed while the car is hot?
These covers have heat-resistant material where they touch tail pipes. That said it is always better to install a cover once a car has cooled.
Can indoor car covers be used outdoors?
A few hours outside here and there are no big deal. However, these covers should not be used outdoors on anything approaching a regular basis. They are not moisture resistant. Also they will wear out faster as they are not UV resistant.
Are these machine washable?
Every car cover is different so ALWAYS read the instructions. A good rule of thumb is that any car cover with significant UV inhibitors should be hand washed. The soap should be as gentle as possible without any additives like fabric softener.
The exterior can be washed while on your car. Many people find it easier to install the cover inside-out to wash the interior lining. It depends on the thickness and stiffness of your particular car cover. Experiment a little to see what works best for you.
Should I strap my cover down if its’ parked outside?
If it is windy, then absolutely yes. Good covers have elastic hems in the front and back to ensure a snug fit. However, covers can blow off without additional support. Securing the cover by using straps and buckles and the installed grommets only takes a couple of minutes and will keep your car well protected.
Are the outdoor car covers waterproof?
No, despite some manufacturers occasionally using the term “waterproof,” these car covers are only “moisture resistant.” Now, they are VERY moisture resistant, and it would take a hard rain for your car to get wet. 100% waterproof car covers (e.g. a rubber tarp) don’t breathe and are bad for cars.
Do they protect agains hail storms?
None of these car covers offer reliable protection against hail. The problem is that hail storms are unpredictable. Better quality car covers would protect against sleet and pea size hail stones. Conditions can change quickly however, and small hail stones could become dangerous golf ball size hail. If hail storms are a concern, check out our detailed article on how to best protect your car from hail.
Is it worth it to buy a premium car cover?
For us, the answer is “yes.” To be clear, lower cost, mainstream car covers will protect your car, especially if you find one of the handful that are actually good (see our links in the article above). However, they usually have inner linings that aren’t as good and in extremely windy and stormy conditions, can faintly scratch clear coat.
Cheaper car covers are also not as durable. Think about how much material is involved coupled with an ~ $40 price tag. They simply cannot be the same quality. If you are driving a 3 year old Accord, a cheaper cover is perfectly fine. For a collectible car like the S2000, we absolutely recommend a top of the line S2000 car cover.
